Solidarity Needs Responsibility

Our Lady of Kibeho, pray for us to Christ!

Both beginning and the end of 1980s, are mainly associated with the activity and subsequent victory of Poland's Solidarity Movement.

The time, interestingly, has been marked by some other crucial – yet not much known – events; they are, in my opinion, of the most importance for the whole world just as the Solidarity's victory is.

I speak of the Kibeho's Apparitions (1981-1989) that were officially approved by the Church in 2001.

During one of them, Our Lady, reportedly, said:

The world is reining at its loss, it is going to fall into an abyss that means to be plunged into innumerable and unceasing misfortunes. 

That her words had been true, we all saw a few years later, observing the Rwandan Genocide.

The fact should not be taken for granted and, moreover, needs to be seen as a kind of warning to so-called  Solidarity Generation and to us all; it is so, for truly political freedom may not be enough, if it is not leading to man's good choices.

The Gentlest Hands

Our Lady of Knock, pray for us all to Christ!

Have you ever noticed the specific gesture of the Blessed Virgin Mary that has been observed during Her apparition in Knock, Ireland? The hands of Our Lady - who had appeared in this Irish village along with the Lamb of God, St John & St Joseph on August 21st, 1879 - were raised as in the Eucharistic offering. Thus, without any doubt, we may say that not only Mary does not compete with Her Son for the human attention. On the contrary, she is both the greatest adorer of Christ and the Mediatrix of His abundant Eucharistic graces.

The Language of Love

The apparition at Knock, Ireland, seems to be -- at least at the first glance -- the extremely unusual one:
The Lamb of God, His Mother, St Joseph, and St John seen there on the evening of August 21st, 1879, remained still and silent.

Because of that some Irishmen, especially these granted with the famous gift of gab, are disappointed or confused about the true meaning of the said apparition.

In my opinion they may be proud instead. It is so for the heavenly Guests to the Emerald Island in fact spoke (nothing but) the language -- so needed in our noisy yet void culture -- that conveys more than mere words:

Its name is love.

I am the mother of fair love, and of fear, and of knowledge, and of holy hope. In me is all grace of the way and of the truth; in me is all hope of life and of virtue. Come to me all that desire me and be filled with my fruits (Sirach 24:24-26).
O Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Grace, Hope of the world.
Hear us, your children, who cry to you
Let Us Pray
O God, who by the marvelous protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary has strengthened us firmly in hope, grant we beseech You, that by persevering in prayer at her admonition, we may obtain the favors we devoutly implore. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Prayer to Our Lady of Hope
O Mary, my Mother, I kneel before you with heavy heart. The burden of my sins oppresses me. The knowledge of my weakness discourages me. I am beset by fears and temptations of every sort. Yet I am so attached to the things of this world that instead of longing for Heaven I am filled with dread at the thought of death.
O Mother of Mercy, have pity on me in my distress. You are all-powerful with your Divine Son. He can refuse no request of your Immaculate Heart. Show yourself a true Mother to me by being my advocate before His throne. O Refuge of Sinners and Hope of the Hopeless, to whom shall I turn if not you?
Obtain for me, then, O Mother of Hope, the grace of true sorrow for my sins, the gift of perfect resignation to God's Holy Will, and the courage to take up my cross and follow Jesus. Beg of His Sacred Heart the special favor that I ask in this novena.

But above all I pray, O dearest Mother, that through your most powerful intercession my heart may be filled with Holy Hope, so that in life's darkest hour I may never fail to trust in God my Savior, but by walking in the way of His commandments I may merit to be united with Him, and with you in the eternal joys of Heaven. The Rose of Wisdom

People of Ireland have got  something in common: they  are generally faithfull to Jesus and Mary, experienced with  the pain of the past, and distanced when it comes to so-called new streams and moods.

Perhaps that is why Our Lady of Knock gave Her blessing to all of them on some rainy summer day.
 
Inviduals from other countries can draw a lesson from above-described attitude of Irish too .

If they do so, Mary can come to them offering rose of wisdom that shined through Her crown as she granted Emerald Isle with Her presence.   

Lady of Knock, pray that we may be wise, get to Heaven and stay There with Your Son forever.
