The Face of Hope

Some people, among them philosophers and logicians, say that God is only a technical term or meaningless word.Others try to convince us, Christians, that human beings are evil and can only bring disastrous situations upon themselves or the planet they live in.

Neither the first nor the second statement is true:

Please look at the Holy Cross, see the countenance of Jesus Christ and realise how real and beautiful the Face of God-Man can be...

Imagine that you go where no one else wanted to go;

doing there things that for many are filthy or unworthy ones.

Losing your own face in the literal sense –

finally, exposing yourself to ridicule even after your death.

St Damien of Molokai knew that the most difficult path of one's life may be at the same time the most rewarding one.

He was not a great martyr. He had just followed His Master to the end, trusted that without Golgotha there would be no Eden.

Are you able to go wherever Jesus tells you to...

To see His Face now – while looking at your neighbour-

To see His Face forever – while looking at your Creator?
